New and Unique Class-A Office Building Coming to BullStreet District

The WestLawn Building, a new and unique 75,000 SF class-A office building, is coming to the BullStreet District, according to a recent article by the Columbia Business Report Staff.

The new building will be the first in Columbia built using mass timber. This new style of construction reduces labor cost, and provides added environmental benefits over traditional steel and concrete construction. The building will feature retail space on the first floor, and also has remaining class-A office space available on the upper floors. The law firm Robinson Gray Step & Lafitte will occupy 28,000 SF in the top two floors of the building, and they cited the unique construction style as one of their reasons for choosing the space for their new office.

Hughes Development Corp. is serving as the Master Developer for the entire BullStreet District project. Its President, Robert Hughes, also had high praise for the unique design, saying, “The design of WestLawn reflects our emphasis on preserving historic buildings alongside modern architecture, essentially taking the best of the old and new”.

The building was designed by Chicago-based architecture firm Perkins and Will, and construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022.
